Traditionally, two of the early summer evenings are dedicated to the dancers of the future when the students from the diploma year at the Ballet Academy visit Dansens Hus. During the evening you will see dance created by Swedish as well as international contemporary choreographers.

Here is this year's programme:

Work 1 Escape (approx. 16 min)
Choreography: Charlotta Öfverholm
Music: Adel Andersson and David Bowie

Charlotta Öfverholm dancer/choreographer/teacher with a long international career. She has created her own productions since 1995. Last year she started Fucking Burn It-Age on Stage, a 3 year project with productions for experienced dancers over 45 years old. She is the coordinator of the International Summer Festival of the Ballet Academy. Enjoys meeting, teaching and choreographing for the younger generation of professional dancers.


Work 2 (about 10 minutes)

Choreography : Mari Carrasco

Mari Carrasco is a dancer and choreographer from Sweden and Chile. She graduated from the Ballet Academy in 2008 and has developed a structure for her own choreographic work through Carrasco Dance. Together with her dancers in Carrasco Dance, she has worked with Riksteatern and been on a world tour with her play BARTOLOMEO, performing Tokyo, Okinawa, New York, Belfast, Madrid, Roskilde, Amman, Helsinki and Ramallah. As a teacher she has worked at Dans- och cirkushögskolan, Danscenter and at Balettakademien in Stockholm and Gothenburg.


Works 3 HALO (approx. 16 min)

Choreography: Christopher Arouni

Christopher Arouni is from Stockholm and trained at Balettakademien-Stockholm. He has a long dance career behind him in Sweden and Norway, He has worked as a choreographer since 2005 and choreographed assignments for e.g. Carte Blanche, Oslo Danse Ensemble, Skåne Dansteater, Bærum Kulturhus, Kompani Haugesund and Konsthögskolan. Carte Blanche, Oslo Danse Ensemble, Skånes Dansteater, Bærum Kulturhus, Kompani Haugesund and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Arouni is also a teacher at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. He formed his own production company, AROUNIDANCE in 2009 and has emerged as one of Norway's most distinctive and exciting choreographers, with a distinctive style and a keen sense of aesthetics.


Work 4 (about 7 minutes)

Choreography: Tine Aspaas

Tine Aspaas has worked in a variety of dance genres throughout her career, both as a choreographer and dance artist in musicals, jazz dance, hip hop and modern dance. Aspaas is recognised both nationally and internationally, and was named Norway's dance ambassador in 2014.
She has directed plays in New York, Madison, Wisconsin USA, Reggio Calabria, Italy and at the National Ballet in Oslo. Aspaas has also worked as a choreographer and dancer for the Oslo Dance Ensemble, and is an associate professor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, where she both teaches and choreographs.
In addition, she has many television productions behind her both as a dancer and choreographer, including Melodifestivalen and So You Think You Can Dance, Scandinavia.


Lighting design

Palle Palmé is the lighting designer for the show. He is the winner of GULDMASKEN 2007 and did the world premiere of "Mamma Mia The Party" in Stockholm in 2016. He has done about 200 musicals around the world including : Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Flashdance, Dirty Dancing, Hairspray, Spamalot, Addams Family, Rock of Ages, The Producers, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Legally Blond, CHESS, Cats, Copacabana, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, FAME, Saturday Night Fever,
A Funny Thing....Forum, West Side Story, GREASE, Jesus Christ Superstar, Elton John's AIDA, Victor Victoria, RENT, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, 42nd Street, Some like it hot, La cage aux Folles, Zorba, HAIR, Chicago and others.

Palmé was scenographer and lighting designer for the opening of the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006. He has also done lighting for a number of concert tours including Gyllene Tider, Per Gessle and Ulf Lundell.


Start-up and overall responsibility

Roger Lybeck trained as a dancer at the Ballet Academy in Stockholm in 1984-86. He then danced with the group Bizazz and Modern Jazzdans Ensemble, where he also worked as a choreographer. He has worked at Dramaten, the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Gothenburg Opera, Malmö Opera, Stockholm City Theatre, Wermlands Opera, Gothenburg City Theatre, Malmö City Theatre and Göta Lejon. Lybeck has choreographed works such as West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, Rent, Les Miserable, Miss Saigon, Hair, Evita, La Cage Aux Folles, Avenue Q, Carmen, Sunset Boulevard and Jekyll and Hyde.
