23 & 24 Nov 2017
What are we expecting to see when we go to the theatre? And when we go to see a striptease? And when we go to see a theatre show called “striptease”?
This Autumn, Catalan choreographer, Pere Faura’s stand-up monologue “Striptease” is a striptease, a performance and a conference, which humouristically and ironically compares the theatrical event with the art of undressing.
“Striptease” talks about the expectations we have when we hear the word “Striptease”; about the mechanism of desire in both conventions; about the seductive relationship between performer and spectator. A spectator, whose gaze finally becomes the main protagonist of the striptease.
In connection to the show, Dansens Hus will hold a workshop, where Swedish choreographers get a chance to expose their innermost thoughts and movements. More information will be announced soon.
about PERE FAURA
Pere Faura is a Catalan performance artist with a background in music, ballet and contemporary dance. His work is based on the appropriation of elements of pop culture, such as striptease, disco, musicals or porn, which he remixes into a new multidisciplinary choreography combining all the elements of the theatrical convention. The resulting performances are invariably challenging and evocative.
