Last autumn, he hypnotised us with his dystopian "Grand Finale". Now it's time for Hofesh Shechter to once again take the stage at Dansens Hus. This time, however, he has left his own company at home and joined forces with the GöteborgsOperan dance company.

Ten years ago, in less than six months, Israeli-born British choreographer Hofesh Shechter went from being virtually unknown to filling Britain's biggest dance stages. Today he is one of the world's most celebrated choreographers - impossible to predict but with an unmistakable style. His work is anarchic, explosively physical and virtuosic. At the same time tender and vibrant. He mixes satire with profundity, chaos with order, and primal animal power with human desire.

Drums and pumping bass are the foundation of his work, but he also mixes his electronic beats with classical music, folk music and opera. I "Contemporary dance" he composes the music himself, but mixes in Bach and Frank Sinatra. More often than not, the sound mats are deafeningly heavy, and he says his desire is to overwhelm the audience and draw them into a shared experience where music, dance and sound reinforce each other.

Having met the dancers for an introductory exchange, I found them to be of the most talented and adaptable group of dancers on the planet. It is so rare to meet a group of dancers and have an instant click with them. It both excites me and scares me what we might be able to do together. I look forward to pushing their physicality and having them push my creativity to new places.
