C/Ompany is a Swedish-Japanese collective run by Shintaro Oue. Their performances are physically clever, charming and thought-provoking, and in the past they have had audiences at Dansens Hus doubled over with laughter. The new performance dan-su is about what we can't do anything about in our lives - that we have to live with uncertainty. Three dancers use crayons on the floor, messages and a landscape unfolds. They discuss, sometimes intensely, with words and bodies to find out more about this uncertainty.
Shintaro Oue is a regular choreographer at Dansens Hus. Together with Shintaro Hirahara and Mirai Moriyama he runs the collective C/Ompany. After the performances in Stockholm, they will go on a major tour of Japan.
Shintaro Oue is Choreographer on site spring 2016.
"The fact that things are not one-sidedly positive or negative is something Shintaro Oue works with a lot. The humour that characterises his work is always accompanied by a seriousness. And what is beautiful, funny or cute can quickly be replaced by something completely different.
- We don't actively try to make a great performance. If you do something on stage that is not so successful, it can lead to the next moment being good. You have to be open to the moment and not try to control everything."
