Dimitris Papaioannou The Great Tamer

In 2015, Dimitris Papaioannou’s “Still Life” was a huge success at Dansens Hus. At last, he returns: this time with his brand-new piece, “The Great Tamer”.

Biljetter & info

Involving 10 performers on stage, “The Great Tamer” takes shape around the notion that human life can be seen as a journey of discovery, an exploration for hidden treasure, an inner archaeological excavation for meaning.

The ingenious and multi-talented Greek artist, Dimitris Papaioannou, became widely known in 2004 as creator of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. His 23 productions cover the range from intimate pieces to mass spectacles involving thousands of performers, and have appeared in a broad variety of venues. His work is tangibly influenced by his artistic background, and his productions can be seen as moving still life; always with a strong, distinct visual expression.

The Great Tamer has been internationally co-produced by Dansens Hus amongst others, and premiered in Athens on May 24th. We can’t wait for November, when it will finally be Stockholm’s turn.
