In Phoenix you will meet thirteen dance artists from different contexts and with an age range of almost 40 years between them. The title refers to the gold and red phoenix which, according to myth, rose from the ashes and resurrected as a rejuvenated figure. For the Weld Company, it stands for change and courage. Through exciting and untraditional methods, they dive into all the knowledge and experience they have as a group. What can come out on the other side of the fire? The question they explore is: what constitutes a dance company and what are the expectations? The focus is on how a company body is built, its social as well as physical characteristics.

After the premiere performance on 28 April, you are welcome to a party in Dansens Hus foyer. Dansens hus and Weld offer music, snacks and the best company! Dj's are Siri Hjorton Wagner and Iki Gonzalez Magnusson.

About Weld Company
Weld Company was initiated in 2013 by Anna Koch, artistic director of the Weld Company. Weld - a platform for innovative choreography and art in Stockholm that turns 10 this spring. With the restriction 'No Talking, No Props', Weld invites Swedish and international choreographers to create works and ask questions about what dance is today. Weld Company brings together dancers and choreographers from different generations and contexts who want to challenge the formats of how choreography is created. They immerse themselves in different choreographic working methods and in questions about the collective and the common. This is no ordinary dance company, it is a speculation, a process, a way of working - and an opportunity to look both forwards and backwards in dance history.
