Trace element is the third part of the Helena Franzéns trilogy on human memory and what is left behind. Helena continues to explore the imprints of her work, how far can memories be stretched and reformulated to fit into the life we live today?
What do we do with our memories, can we choose what we want to remember and control our forgetting?

I Trace element the dancers carry physical memories of previous works by Franzén. This leads to reinterpretations, fragments and flashbacks - new movements emerge and something new takes place. Trace Element is a contemplation of the passage of time, of memories, of the large and the strangely small, of the seemingly insignificant, which can prove decisive later in life.

About the choreographer

More about: Helena Franzén

Helena Franzén is a dancer and choreographer who has been active for over 25 years. After training at the Ballet Academy and the choreography programme at the Academy of Dance in Stockholm, she has created over 70 works. She has toured in Scandinavia, the USA, South America and the Baltics, and has made a variety of assignments for Skånes Dansteater, Norrdans, The EDge company, London and Göteborgs operans Danskompani. 2014 she was awarded the Gannevik scholarship. Helena Franzéns work is recognised by a movement language with boundless variations, explosiveness and poetic presence.
