How do you create something from what is initially just an idea? Using the seminar as a format, Carina Reich takes a closer look at the process of creating a work. The result is brought to life in dance, film and conversation with the audience and ensemble.

Titles Just my imagination is taken from a song by the group The Temptations, but here the only thing left of the soul song are some dance steps and dance choirs. The music was the starting point for the first practical exploratory part of Carina Reich's PhD project in performing arts. The title also refers to the human creative drive to conjure up something from what does not exist. Here, the audience can take part in her research project in which she is interested in the place of the personal in the performing arts.

Carina Reich is a choreographer, director and PhD student in performing arts. Her work often combines different art forms in an innovative and unexpected way. She is one half of the artist duo Reich+Szyber, who since the 1980s have created several acclaimed works that can be described as hybrid forms in the performing and visual arts. "While many performing artists today break out of the confines of the theatre space in various ways, Reich & Szyber take a different route - by recreating the time and world of vaudeville in a meta approach. [...] It is contagious and feels liberating. This is like nothing else you can see right now. And yet it looks like something..."

In the motivation for Region Blekinge's cultural prize awarded to Carina Reich in 2012: "Carina Reich combines different art forms in an unexpected and imaginative way. She often starts from odd and unique places in her performance and her projects. She crosses borders and shatters perceptions, making her one of the most exciting and challenging artists today."
