He looks back at the point where his search began: the drama of impulses and instincts, the play of energies and intensities. In the overwhelming Romanian nature, with Europe's last primeval forests, Vandekeybus searches for traces older than humanity and its memories. For the inner history, the history that takes place before or beyond language, the intense, wordless <em>Traces<\/em>can only be told through the pulse of dance and music.<\/p>\n<p>It is a search for traces of nature that the body has forgotten or repressed. How much nature is still alive in humanity? How much animal in the human body? What happens when we are in danger, when we have to make intuitive decisions to survive?<\/p>\n<p>Ten dancers move to a soundtrack by Trixie Whitley, Shahzad Ismaily, Ben Perowsky and Daniel Mintseris, recorded with special guest Marc Ribot on guitar, in a world where bears lurk behind every tree, no matter how many civilised paths man tries to carve out.<\/p>\n<h2>Ultima Vez<\/h2>\n<p>Ultima Vez is a Belgian modern dance group. Vandekeybus arbete k\u00e4nnetecknas av n\u00e4stan tv\u00e5ngsm\u00e4ssiga upprepningar av ett enda tema: hur m\u00e4nniskan reagerar p\u00e5 extrema situationer. I detta sammanhang f\u00e4ster han s\u00e4rskild vikt vid det han kallar \"katastrofens \u00f6gonblick\" - vilket ironiskt nog inte utesluter hans inkluderande av humor, lekfullhet och till och med en viss sk\u00e4mtsam l\u00e4tthet i sitt arbete.\r\n\r\nVandekeybus f\u00f6rest\u00e4llningar tar formen av associativa montage med en f\u00f6rk\u00e4rlek f\u00f6r att korsa gr\u00e4nser mellan discipliner som samtidigt inte f\u00f6rlorar n\u00e5gonting av sin starkt rotade autonomi i processen.
