In Deepstaria<\/em> Sir Wayne McGregor, one of the most influential and sought-after choreographers of our time, takes us on a breathtaking journey into the depths and infinity of space. With his unique movement signature and groundbreaking way of combining dance, music and science, McGregor creates a performance that is as physical as it is philosophical.<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of time, humanity has had a fascination with the void. From the depths of the sea to the infinity of space. Dark and infinite places that excite both our imagination and our desire to explore our world to its furthest limits.<\/p>\n

On stage, we meet nine dancers in a visually stunning and technically magnificent performance that explores the abyss, the beginning of all life and bottomless space. Across the stage space, the dancers float, collapse, resurrect and reshape in an ever-changing stage space. The result is a performance that pulsates with energy, precision and human presence.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Deepstaria<\/em> - a title inspired by an enigmatic species of jellyfish with a starry name - McGregor evokes a sensory and meditative state where dance and acoustics interact to create an experience that reflects on our deep relationship with the void and our own mortality. Like the jellyfish with its mesmerising capacity for renewal, Deepstaria invites us to dream of our eternal connection with the universe we inhabit.<\/p>\n

At the same time, these spaces of infinite blackness, womb-like, are strangely familiar - sounding forgotten connections deep within, and stirring, perhaps, faint echoes of unconscious states of being, floating in places of before and after\" - <\/em><\/strong>Wayne McGregor<\/em><\/h3>\n

Using Vantablack Vision\u00ae technology on stage to create unfathomable darkness, McGregor creates an environment that disrupts traditional hierarchies of perception. In this void, acoustic images and animated music are created by Academy Award-winning sound designer Nicolas Becker and renowned music producer LEXX. I Deepstaria<\/em> a sonic dreamscape emerges, continuously recomposed and performed by the revolutionary digital sound engine Bronze AI* - renegotiating the relationship between live dance and live recorded music in real time.<\/p>\n

Deepstaria<\/em> is intended as the first work in a diptych. The second: On the Other Earth<\/em> (a choreographic installation) premiered in 2025 in Jeffrey Shaw's nVis, the world's first 360 LED interactive cinema screen - which features an extensive instrumentarium of sensing technologies.<\/p>\n

Vantablack Vision\u00ae is an ultra-black light absorbing (< 1 % total hemispherical reflectance) coating designed for industrial and creative applications by The Nano Coatings Company. Vantablack Vision\u00ae is unique in that it absorbs light uniformly regardless of its angle of incidence, so the coating appears super black regardless of the viewing angle, creating an infinitely deep effect on the coated object.<\/p>\n

\u00a0*Bronze is a new technology that allows music creators to use AI and machine learning as creative tools for composition and arrangement.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h6>\n
