ADAM SEID TAHIR
and from their hair, an endless forest
FULL-LENGTH PERFORMANCE AT MDT, MODERNA DANSTEATERN
3.00 pm, 24 October 2026

and from their hair, an endless forest
It takes its cue from the rune Thurisaz (ᚦ), which is associated with giants – beings who, in Norse mythology, are portrayed as enemies of the gods and linked to chaos, threat and otherness. Adam Seid Tahir examines these associations and draws parallels with the marginalisation of Black people. At the centre is the figure of Ymir, an intersex being who, according to myth, was murdered and from whose body the world emerged.

Through the geography of death, the afterlife and the non-linearity of time, the stage becomes a world of transformation: a place where the body becomes weather, where hair becomes endless forests, where anger, sadness and grief intertwine. “and from their hair, endless forest” invites the audience into an atmospheric world of myth and legend.

Adam Seid Tahir

Adam Seid Tahir (they/them) is a choreographer and creative technologist. Their work encompasses the creation of performative pieces, web-based projects and more.

Seid Tahir is interested in runology and the concept of Afro-Nordic folklore. Their work seeks to retell the history and mythology of the Nordic region where they grew up and still live, through a queer, Afro-diasporic and post-anthropocentric lens.

All of Seid Tahir’s works explore the personal and the mythological as political. In doing so, they construct emotional and sensory fictional worlds through which they critique certain societal constructs. In other words, they use fiction to foster resistance, to question and to subvert various subjects and realities.

Seid Tahir has presented their work at venues including: Kunstenfestivaldesarts (BE), MDT (SE), Kampnagel Summer Festival (DE), Tanzquartier (AT), Dansehallerne (DK), Emergentia (CH), Bâtard (BE), My Wild Flag (SE), Dubrovnik Summer Festival (HR), Dance Umbrella (UK) and others. They regularly collaborate with other artists, including: Meleat Fredriksson, Lydia Östberg Diakité and Amina Seid Tahir.
