Keep an eye out! Here we publish our calls for technical production residencies!
A technical production residency at Dansens Hus gives Sweden-based choreographers or performing artists the opportunity to work with a technical team and existing stage technology to work on an artistic project.
You can apply for technical production residencies at Dansens Hus with productions that are intended for both small and large performance spaces.
What does a technical production residency at Dansens Hus mean?
The residency can be useful, for example, in the finalisation process of a new work, or for an artistic lab to develop new ideas. The Blackbox and Studio Stage at Dansens Hus can be used in different ways, and it is possible to work with stage, theatre and seating in a flexible way. However, technical production residencies at Dansens Hus Stora scen need to work from the stage/lounge as a starting point.
Dansens Hus offers
Dansens Hus' announced technical production residency means - two weeks in one of the stage rooms with the opportunity to work artistically and technically with scenography, light and sound together with a technical team from Dansens Hus. You have access to existing technology and a small budget for technical rentals and the work is based on the applicant's technical specification and production residency planning.
Dansens Hus offers a production grant that is paid against invoice. A prerequisite is that the recipient can present a sustainable budget for the residency period, including remuneration to the team and other expenses. Dansens Hus production funding should only be seen as partial financing. The residency holder must have an F-tax certificate and the necessary insurance.
We would like the work to include some form of public viewing or other public activity including dialogue with the artistic team.
Application requirements - who can apply?
To apply for a technical production residency, you must be a choreographer or performing artist working in Sweden. The production you are applying for must need to rehearse in a performance space where the production residency can support the work technically.

- A description of the performance and the artistic idea you want to work on during the residency about 1 A4.
- Desired residency period(s) in order of priority
- A short description of how you want to work with technology during the residency. What do you/you intend to achieve during the residency?
- Proposal for residency planning/schedule
- Budget for the residency period
- Possibly. Premiere date and list of other planned events, possible co-producers and collaborations
- Comprehensive contact list and CV of the author(s)

To ensure good conditions for the residency, we would like the applicant choreographer/performer to have a producer and a lighting and sound designer attached to the production. However, this is not a requirement.
How is the selection process organised?
The selection is made by a reference group consisting of the Dansens Hus Programme Council and external advisors.
