Snow White's parent posts another selfie on Insta and the answer comes immediately; most likes of all! Just as expected. All methods to stay young, yoga, strict diet, detox, a little lift now and then...it has to pay off somehow!
Snow White is mostly a status symbol that can be shown off when needed. She struggles to get her parent's attention and love, but when Snow White gets her very own phone one day, everything changes! With a few simple button presses, she gets all the validation she's been missing and soon she has more likes than her parent.
Being replaced by someone younger, especially by your own daughter, shatters everything! The feeling that life is running out becomes a turning point and it means that Snow White must go, that Snow White must die.
In the forest, Snow White meets 7 influencers. Each with their own unique diagnosis, around which they have built their personal brand. They are on a retreat for their social media addiction. They've all had to give up their phones and go for invigorating walks. Now they feel like shit, but then again they did before they got rid of their phones, and they don't even notice that Snow White is desperately trying to become part of the dysfunctional group. However, Snow White has a secret weapon - she still has her phone. It can help her connect with the group, but it can also reveal her location...
A fight against old age, a fight to be loved, a fight against loneliness, a fight against mental illness.
Benke Rydman's 'Snow White', an upbeat, educational fairy tale
Benke Rydman's contemporary tale is imaginative and visual.
In "Snow White" the dance flows generously over, under and through the scenes.
This is skilful, thoughtful, dark and crazy good. Rydman does it again, this is SUCCESS!
