"Cosmic latte" is a term used by space scientists to describe the most common colour in the universe. In Sonya Lindfors' performance of the same name, she uses the term to define and study black identity and fantasise about its future.

Cosmic Latte is a project aimed at the year 3021, where the world is devoid of categorisations and definitions. Black and white are not opposites but parts of the same whole. It is a future without borders and where we all dissolve our dichotomous positions. A performance with Afrofuturism*, contemporary art, West African cosmology, Sun Ra and Bach in coexistence.

'Cosmic latte' is the third instalment of Helsinki-based choreographer Sonya Lindfors' project. The first part 'Noir' premiered in 2013 and part two, 'Noble Savage', in 2016.

It is the year 2021.

* Afrofuturism, a concept launched by Mark Dery in 1993, offers a framework for radical dreams of a future where everyone is included. First used in a sci-fi context, the term is a philosophy that redefines black identity and dreams of a world where freedom, equality, history, present and future become a new landscape without borders and limitations.
