The theme is Choreographing North Korea: cultural transmissions and borderland crossings.
The introduction starts at 18.00 in the Dansens Hus foyer and is in English.
Iain Sands completed a PhD in Korean studies at Stockholm University in 2021. He currently researches performance practices of amateur and professional troupes of North Korean performing artists who live and work in South Korea. Iain's work is interdisciplinary, at the intersection of cultural studies, performance studies, trauma theory, music, dance, and gender. He is especially interested in exploring how live performance intersects, on an emotional level, with histories, politics, and discourses of national division and unification. Originally from New Zealand, Iain now calls Sweden home.
