The already strained cultural economy needs to be secured through more measures. Earlier in April, the Government decided on a contribution of SEK 500 million, which will benefit individual creators, artists and other cultural activities in the independent field. This proposal is now balanced with a much-needed contribution to the national theatres and other national institutions.
- We all live and work in an interdependent ecosystem. Hopefully, we will soon be able to open our theatres again. But then there must be theatres and artists who have survived the crisis and can operate. Otherwise, we have nothing to show our audience. Increasing resources for culture is crucial. This was two steps in the right direction," says Challa Gustavsson, acting theatre manager at Dansens Hus.
