The title, which means ”Golden Age”, refers to the heyday of flamenco from the late 19th century to the 1930s - an era when song and dance took centre stage and expression was characterised by simplicity, sincerity and deep roots in tradition.

”For me, it's about surrendering to the silence, with the memory of the guitar and the singing. The dancer's body is a symphony of movements and a musical instrument. ‘Edad de Oro’ is my personal dance laboratory.”

- Israel Galvan

In La Edad de Oro Galván doesn't just search for the roots of flamenco - he exposes them. Together with María Marín and Mr Rafael Rodríguez Galván establishes a stage dynamic that deepens the stringent character of the work. By stripping away the decorative and focusing on the essential, a raw presence emerges where body, voice and strings interact in an unfiltered expression. The performance is not nostalgic, but a contemporary response to a lost form - a flamenco that burns, breaks and touches.

Flamenco Friday

To make the experience complete, we have invited Stockholm's own flamenco club ”Flamencofredag” to transform our Studio Stage into a passionate ”tablao” on night two, 20 November.
