We are a group of disabled and non-disabled dancers interested in how we work together, how we work when we are not together and how the two situations are interdependent.
In this presentation we will highlight issues of interpretation and translation between bodies, experiences and across forms. We describe the foundations on which our collaboration is built.
The presentation is somewhere between lecture, performance and dialogue.
Skånes Dansteater is an institution in motion with an international dance company based in Malmö. The theatre presents works by contemporary Swedish and international choreographers on its own stages. The repertoire is varied and accessibility is an important part of the organisation. The company also performs at Malmö Opera and on tour. The work at Skånes Dansteater takes place in close dialogue with the arts, various communities and people so that more people can discover the power of contemporary dance.
The artists representing Skånes Dansteater during Within Practice 2026 are: Kit Brown, Madeleine Månsson, Hanna Nussbaumer, and Simone Frederick Scacchetti.

Presentation of practice: ”Embodying the Invisible - Movement, Memory and Transformation”
In this presentation, I will explore how the body can act as a living portal - a space where the past, present and future meet. I will ask questions about how we embody memories, how we allow ourselves to transform and be guided by the invisible forces that shape us - both from our inner world and the outer reality. What happens when we treat the body not just as a vessel, but as a place of resistance, resonance and renewal?
The session will mix talks, movement demonstrations and fragments from my latest choreographic work LA MALA. Together we will dive into the politics of corporeality: How do we witness and be witnessed? How can performance become a tool for presence, both personal and collective?
Escarleth Romo Pozo (NI/PE/SE) is a choreographer and dancer whose artistic practice combines ritual and contemporary dance performance, creating an intuitive world of portals where past, present and future meet. Through her work, she questions the politics of corporeality and spectatorship, using performance as a lens and tool to relate to our inner and outer worlds. By paying attention to the inner landscape of the body - and exploring the resonance and dissonance with the forces that shape us - she creates performances that weave together dance, ritual and score-based choreographies, rooted in listening, hyper-awareness, bodily/mental states and transformation.
Escarleth's work follows the inner dramaturgy of the body, resulting in multi-layered stage works where ancient memory, physical intensity and poetic storytelling meet. Her choreographic projects, such as YIELDING and LA MALA, consider the body as both an archive and a site of transformation, inviting the audience into a borderland where time and identity dissolve. Escarleth began her dance studies with traditional Latin American dances and later contemporary dance and performance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and London Contemporary Dance School. As a dancer she has collaborated with independent artists and companies across Europe, including Voetvolk/Lisbeth Gruwez, Compagnie Tabea Martin, Sophia Mage and Isabel Lewis, while her teaching and curatorial work extends her investigation into the intersection of embodied practices, ritual, transformation and the multiplicity of presence in performance practice.
