Apply for a Technical Production Residency at Dansens Hus!

The residency can be used both for the finalisation of a new work, or as an artistic lab to develop new ideas. The black box and studio stage can be used in different ways and do not need to be used on the basis of the stage/salon format. However, we would like the main stage to be used for a larger format based on stage/salon. We will reserve one of the residency periods for a performance created for children and young people.

We would like the residency to include some form of public screening or other public activity. The residency does not guarantee that the production will be shown at Dansens Hus in the future.

The residency periods:

• August 2025: Week 33 and week 34 on the Studio Stage
• August 2025: Week 34 and week 35 in the Black Box
• August/September: Week 35 and week 36 at Stora Scenen

Dansens hus offers:

• Two-week technical production residency, which includes technical work on set design, lighting and sound with technicians from Dansens hus.
• Production funds of SEK 50,000 to be paid by invoice.
• Access to existing technology and a smaller budget for technology rentals.

Application:

• A description of the performance and the artistic idea you want to work on during the residency about 1 A4.
• Desired residency period(s) in order of priority
• A short description of how you want to work with technology during the residency. What do you/you intend to achieve during the residency?
• Proposal for residency planning/schedule
• Budget for the residency period
• Premiere date and list of other planned screenings, possible co-producers and collaborations.
• Comprehensive contact list and CV of the author(s)
• Work samples from previous artistic work in the form of filmed material or similar.
• Moving material in the form of Youtube and/or Vimeo clips, or other links (if available).

To ensure good conditions for the residency, we would like the applicant choreographer/performer to have a producer, lighting and sound designer attached to the production. However, this is not a requirement.

The selection is made by a reference group consisting of the Dansens Hus Programme Council and external advisors.
