Programme

Welcome to a packed schedule of activities and workshops for all at Dansens Hus Foajé and Lilla scen on Barnhusgatan at Norra Bantorget in Stockholm. If you are interested in dance, music, art or dance film, there is something for you.

These activities are mainly for young visitors - a place to explore and challenge yourself in any of the different expressions of hip hop on your own terms and conditions. Of course, all ages are welcome.

You can walk around between the different stations and try out different exciting workshops. You don't need to pre-register. Just come and join in!

A safe space with creative stations in the spirit of hip hop.

You are welcome to try it out: 

- Dance classes in Breaking and Dancehall.

- Try DJing and making your own beats. 

- Learn how to sketch with a graffiti artist.

- Watch dance films.

DANISH CLASSES

Try out different street dance styles! You don't need any prior knowledge or special dance clothes. Come as you are! We will present 4 different classes with some of the most awesome dance teachers in each style. 

DJ SCHOOL / BEATMAKING

You'll learn how to mix two songs together, scratch or just learn how all the different buttons on a DJ mixer work. DJ workshops for all ages and levels.

How to create songs and beats? Try making your own beats and get help and guidance from some real professionals.

GRAFFITI

Learn how to create a drawing, sketch or lettering from this art form. You will be helped to sketch out what you want to do and then perhaps the opportunity to get it up on a wall. Drawings can be taken home or left for everyone to admire during the Streetstar weekend.

FILM SHOWING

The documentary "On the Beat - from the street to a star" captures the dance culture around Streetstar from 2006 to 2021, a subculture that revolves around dance duels where the combatants do not know beforehand what music they will dance to. The dancers need to know the technique, understand the culture, feel the music and dare to improvise in front of the audience and judges. It requires courage, hard work and respect, as well as love and passion.
