In the performance MASC choreographer Sofia Södergård portrays an intense longing for love. A longing we all carry with us, but which can have many different faces. With a feminist perspective and queer stories, she takes us on a charged journey through masculinity and femininity, same-sex love, domestic violence and the struggle for freedom.
In a mix of reality and fiction, Södergård combines drama, fantasy, seriousness, humour and absurdity. From kitchen sink realism to escapist club nights - in MASC reveals a life where a polished facade hides a painful reality.

About Sofia Södergård
Biography image: Carl Thorborg
Sofia Södergård is a dancer, choreographer, actor and DJ. Trained in the club and street dance scene in New York, at the Stockholm Ballet Academy and at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts, she has a broad repertoire that is always based on the feminist and challenging.
Södergård is one of the founders of the dance company P*fect, which has been seen at Sadler's Wells in London, the Eurovision Song Contest, Juste Debout in Paris and as an opening act for Lady Gaga. She has also toured with her drag-king alter ego Qarl Qunt through both Dansnät Sweden and Riksteatern.
In recent years, she has choreographed the musical "Cabaret" on the National Stage, The Chaos Family "Punching the Roof" and "Angels in America" at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. She also participated in Falk Richter's performance "PRIDE" at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.
In autumn 2022, Sofia Södergård toured with Dansnät Sweden in performance artist Charlotte Engelke's work "Transplantation".
The work's choreographer Sofia Södergård, and Åsa Lundvik Gustafson talk after the performance MASC with Anna Bennich, psychologist and relationship expert. The conversation moderated by Nicole Neidert, choreographer.
In this workshop, participants explore with Sofia Södergård how to mix queerness, masculine and feminine body language, expressions and social codes, thereby "hacking the social system" and mixing these. Using techniques from drag queen and king, we start building a character and explore ourselves and the relationship to the others in the room.
Participants will work with objects/subjects, clichés and stereotypes and reflect on this. No preparation or prior knowledge is required. The workshop is from 15 years old.
