With strong roots in the folk tradition, placed in the present and with a view to something new, Anna Öberg creates a performance together with Dansnät Sweden.
'I move in the field of tension between folk dance and contemporary dance. In some contexts I am considered a backward-looking person, in others an avant-garde and provocateur. Personally, I'm interested in everything in between." - Anna Öberg
With pulse and rhythm as a driving force, four dancers and two of Sweden's most renowned folk musicians create a performance with both groove and vibration.
"I think of SOLITUDE as different states of pulse and rhythm. Pulses that are heard, seen and felt. Pulses that seduce and destroy, unite and create meaning, but also force us into uniformity and expose us to the risk of falling out. Contrasts of togetherness and loneliness - I would like to share these extremes with the audience." - Anna Öberg
About the choreographer
Anna Öberg
The interaction between dance and music runs like a red thread through Anna Öberg's choreographic work and she has attracted much attention for her innovative approach, both within and outside the genre. Already in 2012, her solo performance Spår toured with Dansnät Sweden. Three years later, she became the first folk dancer ever to graduate with a master's degree in choreography from DOCH and in 2017 Anna was awarded the newly established Dance of the Year prize at the Folk and World Music Gala.
