DIMITRIS PAPAIOANNOU STILL LIFE
Biljetter & info
Stora scen
Under a gigantic cloud of smoke, the dancers emerge out of nowhere. Then they disappear just as mysteriously as they arrived. Still Life speaks both to our emotions and our senses, spiriting us away to a dazzlingly beautiful symbolic world. Welcome to a performance filled with mystique, meaning and optical illusions.
Inspired by the Greek myth of Sisyphus, who was condemned to roll an immense boulder in front of him, the performance Still Life is a magnificent, meditative experience. It addresses both hard toiling as well as mankind’s search for meaning.
Greek choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou made his international breakthrough by creating the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. An aesthete to the core, his set designs are often immense stage constructions. Papaioannou began his career as an artist and his work can be seen as living paintings – always with a strong visual expression. Still Life is no exception.
