Akram Khan and Israel Galván are two masters of their respective genres: Indian kathak dance and flamenco. Now they come together in an explosive performance in search of a dance without compromise.

 The sound of stomping heels and clapping hands is mixed with voices and drums. TOROBAKA takes its name from a poem by the poet Tristan Tzara. The bull (toro) and the cow (vaca) are sacred animals in the traditions of both dancers and represent the meeting of dance styles. But instead of mimicking each other, Khan and Galván create something completely new together.

Akram Khan is one of the real world names in dance, working in both contemporary dance and Indian Kathak. He has worked with everyone from the National Ballet of China to Sylvie Guillem to artists like Kylie Minogue. He has previously made acclaimed visits to Dansens Hus with the performances Zero Degrees and 4D.

Award-winning Israel Galván has been at the forefront of contemporary flamenco for twenty years. Galván is known for his innovative choreography and his exquisite technique. In 2013 he visited Dansens Hus with La Curva .
