Last year, choreographer Jefta van Dinther made a success of his collaboration with the Cullberg Ballet in Plateau Effect. Now he is back at Dansens Hus with his biggest project ever.
In As It Empties Out, the body becomes the venue. Slowly but surely, the audience is taken to a place where spatial coordinates are missing and where bodies disappear and dissolve. It becomes a game with scales, dimensions and time. Length suddenly becomes height and depth becomes age.
The performance can be likened to a distorted fantasy where sounds, voices, clothes and movements are superimposed on each other, causing the audience to lose orientation. Through various rituals, the dancers offer an endless discharge of emotion, expression and energy, but without reaching a vacuum.
Jefta van Dinther often makes use of a rumbling, heavy electronic soundscape.
his performances offer strong physical experiences for the audience. In his new work, he collaborates again with lighting designer Minna Tiikkainen, sound designer David Kiers and the artist duo SIMKA. Get ready for an evening of large-scale sensations!
