If Ever in Range is a kind of laboratory. Inside, we can renegotiate the given.
The balance between different elements and positions is constantly shifting. An elastic movement propagates itself in space. Nothing is just itself, everything is extended into the other.
The distance between objects becomes their most important characteristic. Space wriggles out of its orbit. It warps and pulsates, making way for an acceleration that we ourselves cannot fully control. Delays the expected, stretches it, pulls it to its extreme. Lets it fall back to an apparent starting point, and from there begins a new distortion.

We strive to remember again and again that up, down, vertical, horizontal, centre or periphery are not constant categories. It is our anchor points in the world that determine how we understand directions.
What looks light and weightless actually contains an elevated pressure.
Floating is not an illusion. It is merely an effect of forces that are constantly present and at work in the world. Hidden or observable, they connect everything to everything else. These forces are the basic conditions for what we can ever have within our reach.

If ever in range is a collaboration between artist Anna Åstrand, dancer Lisen Ellard, sound designer Elize Arvefjord, lighting designer Anton Andersson, dancer Knut Vikström Precht and dramaturge Tova Gerge.

In conjunction with the performance, conversations are held with invited guests who, from their fields, provide insight into concepts that have been used in the process.

PROGRAMME

WEDNESDAY 11 APRIL

20.00 The show If Ever in Range is performed.
21.00 After the performance, the professor tells us Ulf Danielsson how the cosmic big and the microscopic small meet in the human world.
When we try to make sense of the unfamiliar, we are at the mercy of our own biological limitations, our language and our bodies. But in the most mundane physics there are clues to the interior of the atom and the beginning of the universe for those who can correctly interpret the signs.

Thursday 12 APRIL

20.00 The show If Ever in Range is performed.
21.00 After the performance, the Katarina Bendtz and Jonas Enander give us an insight into the fundamental properties of different bodies, from the smallest atomic level to the interaction of galaxies. What is motion, what is rest, what is gravity? How can we approach these concepts in a world as dirty, sweaty and chaotic as the one on our planet?

Ulf Danielsson

Professor of theoretical physics at Uppsala University and popular science writer.

Jonas Enander

He received his PhD in cosmology and astroparticle physics in 2015 and now works as a musician.

Katarina Bendtz

He received his PhD in experimental particle physics in 2016 and now does research in cognitive neuroscience.
