With musical references to the 1980s Neue Deutsche Welle band DAF, the thirty-minute solo TANZANWEISUNGEN is full of self-reflective and ironic references.

Staying true to his eclectic style in recent productions, choreographer Moritz Ostruschnjak has his soloist switch from Schuhplattler to Grand jeté, from boxing steps to breakdance. What ties it all together is the sound: the clapping, the breathing, the punch of the jump, the springiness of the step that fills the room like a continuous rhythm.
Almost like a Duracell rabbit, the dancer tirelessly works his way through the movements - ending up in resistance, struggle and victory, stylised masculinity, youth culture, classical ballet, the ballroom or sports in quick succession - absurd sequences that exaggerate, ironise and counteract each other and, in combination, playfully but ruthlessly lead straight into the abyss.
Moritz Ostruschnjak works on the changes in the physical and social experience of digitalisation and virtualisation. His works, using the media machinery of the 21st century as motif and source, reflect the social processes. Following the working principle of pick & mix, cut & paste, he creates the most heterogeneous elements and connections in the narrative of a reality where the boundaries between politics, entertainment and populism are increasingly blurred.
Moritz Ostruschnjak
Moritz Ostruschnjak comes from the graffiti scene and developed his interest in contemporary dance through breakdancing. He studied at Iwanson International in Munich and completed his training with Maurice Béjart in Lausanne. This was followed by engagements as a dancer at home and abroad. He has been working as a freelance choreographer in Munich since 2013 and has created the solo "Island of Only Oneland" and the ensemble pieces "Text Neck", "BOIDS", "UNSTERN" and "AUTOPLAY".
In 2020, he was awarded the City of Munich's Dance Promotion Award for his artistic work.
Moritz Ostruschnjak is a member of Tanztendenz Munich e.V. and has been supported by the Grand Luxe network since 2019. He is one of the Aerowaves Twenty21 artists with this production.
Both performances are followed by a dialogue between Moritz Ostruschnjak and Björn Säfsten.
