Next Thing wanted to establish that street dance has a place in the theatre space and show the audience the wide variety of aesthetic and artistic expressions that exist within the genre. The performance was organised in collaboration with Poetry in Motion.
On stage:
Archaeologist 8
Archaeologist 8 consists of Camilla Reppen, Camilla Walków, Josefine Alfredsson and Tarika Wahlberg. During the evening they present part of the new work Lucy: "Sprung from her, leaping into her, running from her. Is something lost? Is something forgotten? Show all the layers! Proud, strong and the way we see the world. Half. Or just reflections of light. Hatch. Leak. Gaps leak. We are leaky."
The Last Minute
Challenging street dance mixes with contemporary circus in the unusual performance Freeless, which focuses on the encounter between people. In the performance, four artists experiment with controlling the stage and breaking the unwritten rules of theatre. Participants: Eos Karlsson, David Sahlström, Jonathan Morell and Lucas Carlsson.
Progressive People
Progressive People is a dance company with a hip hop background that likes to test boundaries in all its forms. The company consists of Mariella Parra, Lucas Carlsson, Viktor Fröjd and Andreas Sanchez. During the evening, they show a piece that addresses the inner question that we have all wondered about. Who am I? An existential question that has as many answers as opinions.
Cosy House & Interaction
Hygglige House is a dance group that works with group improvisation based on house music. What happens on stage happens in the moment, no two sets are the same. They collaborate with two DJs from the club collective Samspel, Lucas Grind and Mikael Fransson Arman, who provide the music for the piece. With Mischa Grind on percussion, they create a completely improvised performance that is performed by a total of 12 people.
What came out of the mothership
What came out of the mothership is a newly started dance group that focuses on Locking. The group consists of four members: Cajsa Godée, Amanda Vähäsarja, Theresa Gustavsson and Carolina Havervall. During the evening, they present the performance "LÅDANS" where they play imaginatively with the four corners of the locking. This is how the group describes their work: "In our desperate attempts to work outside the box, we decided to explore it instead!"
Anna Näsström
Anna Näsström presents the piece Boxwood, which she describes as follows: "A decorative box may be opened by raising, pulling, sliding or removing the lid, which may be hinged and/or fastened by a catch, clasp, lock, or adhesive tape."
Anna is a graduate of the Swedish School of Dance and Circus. She has also studied and worked in New York where she staged two works on various Off Broadway stages and appeared in a Bollywood film. Anna has also won battles in New York and Europe in Voguing, Runway, Waacking, All styles and Experimental. Anna is a member of the Sweden-based dance company P*fect!
