This year's Urban Connection kicks off with a packed evening that will leave you unable to sit still! French superstars Les Twins are coming to Dansens Hus and Sweden to deliver a mind-blowing and dazzling show.
During Urban Connection's opening night you will meet our guests of honour, Les Twins, who will be put to the test and challenged. You'll also be treated to tasty morsels from other festival points, including JUCK and Crazy Artist Movement - all performed to live music by funk band The Royal Nelson Orchestra. It will be a swinging, sprawling and dizzying evening that you won't soon forget.
Superlatives are hardly enough to describe the greatness of Les Twins. They have quickly established themselves as one of the street world's biggest names. When they're not dancing with Beyoncé, they've toured with Cirque de Soleil, appeared in a Nintendo Wii game, modelled for Jean Paul Gaultier, and won street competitions around the world. In 2011, they won Juste Debout in the hip-hop new style category.
In short, they are the hottest thing in hip hop. Identical twins Larry and Laurent Bourgeois are recognised by their breakneck and humorous dance style, which has even been called 'twins-style'. With an unfailing musicality, they challenge the laws of physics and seem to make the impossible possible. They have a rare interplay that makes their freestyle look like choreography.
Tonight's band, The Royal Nelson Orchestra, is a group of musicians who, in various guises and under the leadership of Fredrik Nelson, have backed up most of the artists in Swedish hip hop and soul. They have been the house band at the hip hop club "Replayed" and the soul club "Keys" at Fasching. The Royal Nelson Orchestra comes to Dansens Hus in its largest format to date. They are backed by some of Sweden's leading wind musicians. It will be a creative clash like no other!
The performance is supported by the French Institute.
