We know the story of Odysseus who resists the siren's song by pouring wax into his own ears and those of his sailors. I Pontus Lidbergs "Sirens" the theme has shifted to a contemporary water world where the magical song not only carries with it evil premature death, but is also an unpredictable creative force that you don't want to live without. How do you deal with the longing for something you can never have? And how do you bear the loneliness that follows in the wake of unsatisfied desire?

In the water world of Pontus Lidberg, film projections and animations of the Jason Carpenter dialogue partners with the dancers. Water, physically and in images, creates a marine world, which forms the background to both the hero's tragedy, but possibly also catharsis?

SIREN is submitted to Franz Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 18, with an arrangement by composer Stefan Levin that blends acoustic instruments with sampled urban and synthesised sounds.

In 2018, SIREN received a Villanueva Award as one of the best performances presented in Cuba during the year. The Villanueva prizes are awarded by UNEAC, the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
