Two voices and two distinct folk music backgrounds.

4 Oct

Sara Parkman is a folk musician, artist and activist who has worked with Silvana Imam, Fever Ray and Seinabo Sey. Päivi Hirvonen is a Helsinki-based musician and composer. She is a master of tradition, while creating something new, in her music and art both sensitivity and strength meet.

During the concert at Dansens hus, Sara Parkman and Päivi Hirvonen will explore the playfulness and power of improvisation in music. Through two violins, two voices and two distinct folk music backgrounds in the Swedish and Finnish tradition, their meeting becomes something new and exploratory. Stumbling and curious into a force field of strong sounds and minimalistic movements with threads of hundreds of years.
