Tonight, is for dancing
Tonight, we'll be dancing

Are we ready to get high on life again? In 'The Dancing Public', Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen offers an explosively fiery dance party that makes it hard to sit still. A dance marathon for everyone who wants to join in. A cleansing ritual to help the body get rid of spiritual waste products from the trials of the pandemic. Are you ready?

In the (hopefully) final phase of the pandemic, Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen explores how historical gatherings of collective 'dance hysteria' have manifested themselves. The explanatory models have been many: evil spirits, curses pronounced by saints, neurological disorders and the term 'hysteria'. But behind the image of danger and uncontrollability, Ingvartsen senses a body's liberating reaction to the stress of epidemics, natural disasters and poverty. A body that heals itself from the stresses of life. Which, through movement and dance, frees itself from unwanted influences and limitations - together, with other healing bodies.

The solo, which encapsulates the memorable year of 2020, explodes into an intense mix of frantic movement and constant music. A dance party, a concert created by spoken word and poetry that asks the questions: How can dance affect our collective when we have been in seclusion and isolation for so long? Is there a gigantic need for movement in our bodies today that needs to be expressed? Are we again ready to embrace life itself?

... The sky will be dancing
The moon will be dancing
The planets will be dancing
The stars will be dancing...
