Welcome to our new stage on Linnégatan!

On Friday 15 October, we open Elverket to curious visitors and let contemporary dance fill the house. Step out onto our stage and feel like a star or get an introduction to the history of the building. Soak up the atmosphere in the performance space, have a drink or something to eat in the bar of our neighbour Brasseriet Elverket.

Of course, we offer excerpts from our programme and guests on the interview couch.

Dancehall class

Learn dancehall with choreographers Binta and Daniela Blackout from the Blackout family. The classes are aimed at young people who are beginners and want to develop their skills.

Dancehall is a dance style from Jamaica, rooted in traditional dances shaped by everyday life. The movements go hand in hand with the music, expressing everything from societal issues to social context and personal expression. Dancehall has a raw energy that is hard to escape and the dance is based on the individual's desire to convey a message. Photo: Matilda Rahm

Fredrik Benke Rydman has positioned himself as one of the country's most current and popular choreographers. He laid the foundation in the legendary Bounce Streetdance Company, which for 13 years redrew the Swedish dance map. Bounce began a collaboration with Dansens Hus back in 1998.

Fredrik Rydman will be present this autumn with the work Snow White shown on the Dansens Hus main stage. Meet him in an interview where he tells us more about his artistry and his performance.

Gaga class

The Gaga/people class offers a framework for participants to 'connect' to their bodies and imagination, experience physical sensations, improve their flexibility, stamina and agility. With both explosive power and the ability to enjoy the movement, we find ourselves in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. Throughout the class, participants are guided to increase awareness of the body and further enhance sensation. Rather than going from one mood to another, the information is more layered and builds into a multi-sensory, physically challenging experience. While many instructions are suggestive and steeped in rich imagery, the research in Gaga is fundamentally physical and requires a specific embodiment. Each participant's personal connection to Gaga is in the exploration itself.

The class is open to people 16+, regardless of background in dance or movement. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to dance barefoot or in socks. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water and a towel.

Read more about Gaga. This class is organised in collaboration with ilDance and is held by Emma Rozgoni. She is a dancer and educator based in Stockholm and has her BA degree in dance from Oslo National Academy of Arts. After years of research on Gaga, Emma became a certified teacher in 2012. She has taught in Sweden and internationally and her teaching CV includes GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Kungliga Operan, Cullberg, Carte Blanche Dance Company, Skånes Dansteater, Iceland University of the Arts, Dans- och Teateralliansen.
